Loma Linda University offers a one-year non-ACGME accredited fellowship in Liver Transplant Anesthesia. This position is open to all applicants who have completed an ACGME approved anesthesiology residency and can obtain an unrestricted medical license in the state of California. Loma Linda University located in Southern California has a robust liver transplant program, with over 100+ liver transplants performed per year.

Fellows will split their time as a liver transplant anesthesia fellow or serving as faculty as an attending supervising residents and CRNAs in the general OR. Fellows will primarily focus on perioperative management of liver transplant surgery.  This includes invasive line placement, hemodynamic management, massive transfusion management, coagulopathy management using thromboelastography, and use of intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.

Fellows will be involved in the multidisciplinary selection committee which evaluates potential liver transplant candidates, as well as weekly department QI, cardiac conference lectures, and echocardiography rounds for continued learning outside the operating room.

Fellows are expected to participate in an academic project/research, with dedicated research days each week.

Upon completion, a certification of fellowship will be provided by the department chairman.
